This year’s event will focus on local chili cooks in the professional and amateur category with separate awards for each. In addition a popular local band, The Portajohns, will return to the event to provide their unique and colorful style of entertainment. Also a supervised area with free children’s games and activities will provide parents with a nice diversion for their young ones.
In total, the Club expects full participation as usual from both restaurants and amateurs alike including 2009 winners Smokehouse, LWood’s, Gruby’s New York Deli, Frankie Bones, and One Hot Mamma’s in the Professional category. Amateur winners included Hilton Head Firefighters, Elks Club 2772, Dougherty’s, Moonshine Roofers, and Its All Delicious. The Kiwanis Club expects 25-30 participants in one of the most popular events in the Southeast.
Tickets will be available in advance for $10 at several Island locations including The Coastal Discovery Museum, Burke’s Pharmacy and any Kiwanis member, among others.
