15th Annual Rib Burnoff This Saturday!!!

The Kiwanis Club of Hilton Head Island 15th Annual Rib Burnoff and Barbecue Fest will be held at the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn, from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM, this Saturday, May 14th, 2011, rain or shine, and will feature the local band The Groovetones.  The Club has commitments from:

Professionals

Bombora’s Grill and Chill Bar                                  Elgie Stover

Frankie Bones                                                            Hilton Head Diner

Longhorn’s                                                                 LWoods

Montana’s                                                                   One Hot Mama’s

Smokehouse                                                                Southern Comfort Cooking Team


Amateurs

Hilton Head Firefighters                                            Hog Heaven

Hogs In Heat              Island Fever BBQ                   Motley Que

Several more cooks are expected in both categories as the event was covered in the May issue of Southern living Magazine. In this year’s blind judging there will be 2 certified South Carolina barbecue judges at each judging table to direct the community leaders on appropriate tasting methods. As usual, ticket holders will vote for the popular vote winners.

 

Ticket prices for this year’s event will be the same as 2010, $12 in advance and $15 at the door. This year, each ticket will include 7 samples of either barbecue or ribs, as opposed to 3 samples in the past. Advance purchase of tickets can be made at Burke’s Pharmacy-Main Street, Coastal Discovery Museum, Reilley’s Bar&Grill-South, User Friendly-29-F Hunter Road, Bluffton Pharmacy-167-B Bluffton Road, and Honey Baked Ham Company, Bluffton, and any Kiwanis member.

 

Supervised children’s activities will be available in a confined area. Beer, wine, soda, hot dogs and ice cream will also be available for purchase.  There will be a limited number of corporate sponsorships available which will include 20 tickets to the event. Rib Burnoff 2011 Announced!

The Kiwanis Club of Hilton Head Island announced today that the 15th Annual Rib Burnoff and Barbecue Fest which will be held at the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn, from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM, Saturday, May 14th, 2011, rain or shine, will feature the local band The Groovetones.  The Club has commitments from restaurants: LWoods, Applebee’s, One Hot Mama’s, Smokehouse, Montana’s and Bomboras. Several amateurs include Tom Rousch and Hogs in Heat.  In 2010, 19 cooks were entered in both categories and the Club expects close to the same as the event was covered in the May issue of Southern living Magazine. May 15th Rib Burnoff Celebrates Armed Services Day

The Kiwanis Club of Hilton Head Island announced today that the 14th Annual Rib Burnoff and Barbecue Fest which will be held at Honey Horn, from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM, Saturday, May 15, 2010, rain or shine will feature a special Armed Services Day theme with music and drills and offer discounted tickets for active military members and their families. The Portajohns, formerly known as Southwind, who have been a mainstay of this event for 5 years, will play their usual country and bluegrass music. The 2010 participant commitments include: Smokehouse, One Hot Mamma’s, Montana’s, LWoods, Smokey Bonez, Applebee’s, HH Diner, Longhorn Steakhouse, and Disney Resort in the professional category. Iron Pig, Motley Que, Hog Heaven, Elgie Stover, Shawnuff BBQ, and Hogs In Heat (formerly bbq.com) have committed in the amateur category. More are expected as the event is covered in the May issue of Southern Living Magazine and has attracted regional attention. A supervised complimentary childrens’ play area will be available with games and slides.

Once again judges will be selected from community and business leaders to pick the Judge’s award winners. Ticket holders will vote for the popular vote winners. Proceeds from this event have benefited local children’s charities throughout the year. For a complete list see our website at: www.hiltonheadkiwanis.com.

Beer, wine, soda, hot dogs and ice cream will also be available for purchase. Advance purchase tickets are $12 and available at Burke’s Main Street Pharmacy, User Friendly-29F Hunter Road, Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn, and Reilley’s Grill and Bar(south end). Tickets at the gate will be $15 and children under 12 are admitted free. A special price of $5 will be available to active military members and their immediate families.

The Kiwanis Club of Hilton Head Island announced today that the 14th Annual Rib Burnoff and Barbecue Fest will be held at Honey Horn, from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 PM, Saturday, May 15, 2010, rain or shine.   In total, the Club expects full participation as usual from both restaurants and amateurs alike.  The 2009 winners included: Smokehouse, One Hot Mamma’s and Montana’s in the professional category and Iron Pig, Motley Que, and Hog Heaven in the amateur category. In total, 19 cooks were entered in both categories but more are expected as the event will be covered in the May issue of Southern living Magazine.

Once again judges will be selected from community leaders to pick the Judge’s award winners and also ticket holders will vote for the popular vote winners.
